Crimping and tooling; Environmental concerns

In some situations, the connection of a cable to another piece of equipment is exposed to environmental stresses such as a high possibility of corrosion and or high temperatures. If you need pre-insulated crimp terminals for wires from 0.25mm2 to 6.0mm2 and they need to withstand higher temperatures than the standard 80oC for PVC Insulation then we offer; Nylon Insulated Crimp Terminals (up to 105oC), Polycarbonate Insulated Crimp Terminals (up to 115oC) and Kynar Insulated Crimp Terminals (up to 150oC).... More commonly crimp terminals or lugs used in areas of extreme conditions will be Non-Insulated Tube Terminals. Stainless Steel Terminals are ideal for temperatures of up to 400oC and are recommended for areas exposed to saltwater, acids and solvents. Nickel Terminals can withstand temperatures as high as 650oC. Aluminium Tube Terminals are often used in power distribution applications and where weight is a critical factor. However, connecting aluminium to copper can be problematic because they tend to self-passivate through fast oxidisation. So, the best way to connect aluminium cables to copper cables or studs is to use Bi-Metallic Connectors. Please Contact Us if you need pricing, availability, samples or more technical information.
