Panduit cable ties for exposure to radiation

In the demanding and specialised environments of nuclear power stations and chemical processing there are only a few cable tie materials that can tolerate such harsh conditions. Panduit offer solutions with their cable ties in Halar, Tefzel and stainless steel. For an overview of their radiation resistance properties please refer to the Panduit cable tie selection chart.

Halar cable ties from Panduit, in their distinctive maroon colour, are the commonly accepted solution for bundling qualified cable without conduit in plenum spaces. They meet the nuclear industry NEC recommendations (Section  300-22 (C) & (D). They also exhibit a low smoke density and an excellent flammability rating of UL 94V-0 and temperature range of -60°C to +150°C.

Panduit’s Tefzel cable ties are ideal for applications requiring resistance to environmental stresses such as chemical attack, gamma radiation, ultraviolet radiation and extreme temperatures of -60°C to +170°C. Designed for use in nuclear power facilities and chemical processing plants they meet the requirements of IEEE 383 and also have a low smoke density and an excellent flammability rating of UL 94V-0. To maintain integrity Panduit also have a range of cable tie mounts in the distinctive aqua-blue Tefzel material.

Stainless steel cable ties offer the same gamma radiation resistance of 2 x 108 Rads, as those in Halar and Tefzel, but of course they also offer greater strength and a higher temperature range. The ties are designed for use in critical applications where strength, vibration, radiation, weathering, corrosion and temperature extremes are a factor. Panduit's stainless steel ties are available in 304 and marine grade 316 and there are also polyester and Nylon 11 coated versions for additional edge protection and corrosion resistance between dissimilar metals. The temperature range for ties in both 304 and 316 grades is -80°C to +538°C and there are also cable tie mounts and identification plates available in stainless steel.
